WILLOW Continues Her Pop-Punk Reign With “<maybe> it’s my fault"

A queer love tragedy, WILLOW confronts the lovesick stomach butterflies turning to ash in her latest single, “<maybe> it’s my fault.”

When it comes to the revival of angsty pop-punk, WILLOW is vehemently leading the pack. Though she’s shed skin through many different musical identities, this genre seems effortless for her, as if the music is poured out rather than pulled.

A melodic track that begs the question of who is less deserving of forgiveness, “<maybe> it’s my fault” solidifies WILLOW's rock reign. Is it easier to evade accountability through victimhood or eat the blame rightfully owed to a crooked lover who still hypnotizes you? A true Scorpio, her ability to wrap her words around your bones comes from her embodiment of feeling. She doesn’t experience emotion, she is emotion. Rage, disappointment, guilt, and despair fall off of her tongue with such potency, even the suffering tastes good.

Though her recent collaborations with artists like Siiickbrain, YUNGBLUD, and PinkPantheress all delivered, there is nothing quite like hearing WILLOW unravel on her own work. At its rawest definition, she is a true artist our ears will perk up to for a very long time.
