A great song stands the test of time and can take many forms. With her new version of “All I Ever Asked,” rising star Rachel Chinouriri is passing that test with flying colors. In tandem with her BRITs nominations and debut North American headline tour announcement, Chinouriri taps US alt star sombr to hop on the hit and add his own alt-pop flair. 

Although the track begins the same, when sombr slides onto the second verse he makes the track his own. His light, indie pop approach complements the track so seamlessly it’s almost as if he has always been on it. In the second chorus, these two uniquely strong vocalists come together in beautiful synergy. sombr’s ethereal adlibs add to the atmosphere, cushioned between Chinouriri’s signature hums. This strong collaboration doesn’t take away from the power of “All I Ever Asked" but enhances it deliciously. 

sombr recalls hearing the track for the first time, sharing “I was in a cafe on the Lower East Side when I first heard 'All I Ever Asked'. It was like a ray of sunshine, and I loved it so much.” On welcoming sombr on the fan-favorite track, Chinouriri says “Sombr has added such an amazing light and joy to the song and I’m so unbelievably excited for everyone to hear it. His tone, writing and style has always been so cool and I’m so happy he wanted to be a part of it.” It’s clear this match was born out of organic collaboration and mutual admiration.

Rachel Chinouriri kicks off her first North American headline tour in May, with support from BIZZY and Alemeda. We hope sombr joins for a live performance of their enticing collaboration on “All I Ever Asked” and can’t wait to catch Chinouriri on the road this year!
