Montell Fish Declares His Undeniable Star Power in "What's It Take to Be a Star?"

In true Mia Goth fashion, Montell Fish’s "What's It Take to Be a Star?" is a grand declaration of power. As many continue to beg for the old Fish, he’s lived too many deaths to turn back now.

During his time in the shadows, Fish studied different works of psychology, from Freud to Jung, to gain an understanding of his own humanity. He’s never shied away from drowning in his own depths and birthing art from it, though he’s certainly matured in the grounding of his own fragility. Intellectualizing feeling and giving meaning to the waning of his woes, “I Know I’m a Star” is one of the many songs born from his contemplation. The dark indie-pop track is bold and brash, fit to fill up the arenas he’s rightfully owed. Fish’s voice echoes like an orchestra, as hypnotizing as the first time we fell under its spell.

The single sets the tone for his forthcoming album CHARLOTTE, due for release September 27. His most raw work yet, Fish spirals through the wading waters of love, loss, and self-actualization. He’s already kicked off the project’s accompanying tour, hitting the road in Boston and wrapping in Pittsburgh.

Fish was destined for stardom from the start, and "What's It Take to Be a Star?" is proof he’s ready to realize it. Aligning with his own magnitude and taking up his rightful space, Montell Fish is making art that will far outlast flesh.
