A sonic ride through sweet despair, Men I Trust have gifted us yet another heartfelt sentiment with “Hard To Let Go.”

The Canadian jazz pop group is currently touring through Europe, but they haven’t let that stop them from creating. “Hard Go Let Go” is their first single since 2021’s Untourable Album, building even more anticipation for their follow-up project. 

Whether it’s an outworn identity or the nagging angst of guilt, it’s hard to let go of what’s comfortable, even when it no longer serves us. The single almost beautifies the redundancy of fighting addiction, with lines like “I’ll never let go to watch you wash the rain with water” drawing sharp edges around the mess of drowning.

Lead vocalist Emmanuelle Proulx wears the essence of a siren and her dream pop sound is effortlessly celestial. Paired with Dragos Chiriac delivering an entrancing keys solo and Jessy Caron doing what he does best on guitar and bass, it’s hard not to end up in another realm.

Everything that Men I Trust makes is intoxicating, and “Hard To Let Go” is no exception. They’ve perfected their elixir and its signature haze is only theirs, aiding in building such a devoted following. It’s understood that if it’s Men I Trust, it’s painfully good.
