Pensive alt-pop duo joan have unveiled their highly-anticipated debut album superglue. The nostalgic collection of songs is filled with sweeping, delicately-crafted sonics that examines profound themes such as isolation, change, love, and fatherhood.

“loner” is a single many of us can resonate with, detailing the struggle of trying to fit in. Getting wrapped up in the strong need to belong, people can often put on facades. With this track, joan hopes to inspire others to form connections with authenticity at the forefront. The swirling and sentimental track “flowers” details people’s constant evolution and growth. Change can be hard but it is inevitable and with "flowers," the duo stunningly expresses the difficult nature of life’s fleeting quality. Yearning harmonies and nostalgic-inspired keys are the highlights of this effervescent track.

“nervous” narrates that highly excitable feeling you get with a new crush. The band uses soundscapes that mimic a ticking clock to add an intense sense of uncertainty. The more you listen, the more you start to envision staring at your crush from across the schoolyard, even if those days are long behind you. The record powerfully ends with the title track “superglue,” a heartfelt ode to becoming a father, with the song dedicated to the band's daughters. The name superglue stems from the desire to be their constant, the adhesive that holds them together. Alan from the project reveals, “We’re the guys you can run to when you’re sad or you want to rejoice because something happy happened at school. If you’re not a parent, it can be about someone you really care about.”
